Chandler, Arizona police came across a shocking discovery on January 8, 2018, while conducting a routine welfare check at the home of 51-year-old John Ormond.

According to the report, officers on the scene indicated they observed a significant amount of blood, leading them to a woman who had been bound to the bed inside Ormond’s master bedroom. The victim, who has not been named, had sustained a substantial head wound and had indicated to officers that she was being held against her will. She was transported to a nearby hospital and Ormond was placed under arrest.

The victim, who had once been Ormond’s girlfriend, required a number of stitches and sutures. She told hospital staff that Ormond had been holding her captive since December 23, 2017, when he hit her over the head with a wooden post. The blow to the head caused the victim to lose consciousness. When she awoke three days later she realized she had been shackled with leather straps to Ormond’s bed and was unable to leave. She says during that time she was repeatedly assaulted both physically and sexually by Ormond.

In addition to her head wound, the victim had also suffered multiple facial fractures, a broken finger, a broken bone in her left hand, and had been missing five of her teeth.

Evidence found in Ormond’s home later substantiated the victim’s claims, including the wooden post Ormand used to inflict the victim’s head wound, dried blood believed to have been the victim’s, as well as the victim’s five missing teeth.

Ormond admitted to “slapping the victim around a bit” and made a number of suicidal threats during his interview with police. He is currently facing multiple charges including aggravated assault, sexual assault, and kidnapping.
