In September 2018, 89-year-old Marcine Herinck was living independently in Portland, Oregon. Known affectionately as “Nana,” Marcine was deeply devoted to her family, her faith and the community she had spent years serving. Despite her age, she remained active, capable and connected to the people around her.
Then, without warning, Marcine disappeared.
Her absence was immediately troubling. This was not a woman known to wander away or abandon her responsibilities. As her family searched for answers, investigators began examining the final hours before she vanished and the unfamiliar presence seen near her home.
What initially appeared to be a missing-person investigation soon led detectives toward something far darker. With every new discovery, the question was no longer simply where Marcine had gone, but whether someone had deliberately chosen her.
